Customer research is shifting. A growing share of people now open an AI assistant to compare options and narrow a shortlist before they ever reach a search engine or a shop. For UAE businesses, that raises a practical question: is advertising inside those conversations a channel worth testing, and what would it actually take to run one properly?
This guide covers what ChatGPT Ads are, how placements work, what decides whether your business can advertise at all, how the costs stack up, and how the channel compares with the Google and Meta campaigns you are probably already running. It is written for business owners and marketing managers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE who want a straight answer rather than hype.
What are ChatGPT Ads?
ChatGPT Ads are paid placements that appear inside eligible ChatGPT experiences. Rather than sitting beside a list of search results, an advertisement can appear in the flow of a conversation, alongside an answer the assistant has already given.
Two things matter about how they are presented, and both are set by the platform rather than by the advertiser:
- Advertisements are clearly labelled. They are identified as advertising, not blended into the response.
- Advertisements are separate from answers. Paying for a placement does not cause the assistant to recommend, endorse or rank your business inside its organic reply.
That second point is the one most often misunderstood. Buying ads does not buy you a mention in the answer itself. If someone offers to get your brand “recommended by ChatGPT” through advertising, they are describing something the platform explicitly separates.

Why the channel behaves differently
Search advertising matches a keyword. Social advertising matches an audience profile. Conversational advertising sits somewhere else: the user has usually described their situation in far more detail than a search box would capture.
Someone planning a villa move in Dubai might type “moving company Dubai” into a search engine. In a conversation they are more likely to explain that they are relocating a three-bedroom villa from Arabian Ranches to Jumeirah in August, that they need storage for a fortnight in between, and that they want a packing service. That is far richer context, and it is the reason the placement can be more relevant.
It also changes what a good advertisement looks like. A keyword-matched ad can be generic because the keyword does the targeting. In a conversation the offer has to answer the specific situation the person has just described, or it reads as an interruption.
Can UAE businesses actually advertise?
This is the first question to settle, before anyone writes copy or builds a landing page, and it has four parts.
1. Where your business is registered
The advertising entity that is billed must be registered in a country on the platform’s current availability list. The list has expanded in stages and continues to change, so it is checked at the time you apply rather than assumed.
2. Verification and billing
You need to complete the platform’s business verification and set up billing in a supported currency. A business that cannot complete verification cannot run campaigns, regardless of budget.
3. Your product category
Some categories carry extra restrictions or are closed outright in most markets. Financial services, healthcare and medical claims, and legal services are typically subject to case-by-case review and often require proof of licensing. Dating, gambling, adult content and political or election advertising are generally not permitted.
4. The measurement you need
If your business case depends on a specific conversion signal, confirm that signal is actually available before you plan around it. Measurement capability varies by market and campaign type.
A note on dates and numbers. Availability lists, permitted categories and minimum budgets are published by the platform and revised often, and Ads Manager has been described as a beta product. Any specific country list or figure you read online — including in this article — should be re-confirmed in Ads Manager at the moment you apply. We confirm eligibility in writing for each client before any campaign work begins.
What it actually costs
There are three separate costs, and conflating them is the most common budgeting mistake we see.
Advertising spend
This is paid by you, directly to the platform. The platform sets a minimum daily budget for each live campaign, published per billing currency inside Ads Manager. Two points are easy to miss:
- The minimum applies per campaign, not per account. Three live campaigns means three times the minimum.
- A daily budget is an average across a seven-day period, not a hard daily cap. Spend on a single day can exceed the daily figure, while spend across seven days will not exceed seven times it. Budget against the weekly number, not the daily one.
Management fee
What you pay an agency, or the cost of the internal time, to plan, build, monitor and optimise the campaign. Our ChatGPT Ads management packages start at AED 999 per month. VAT is added where applicable.
Build costs
Landing pages, tracking setup and any site changes needed to make the traffic convert. These are quoted separately unless included in your proposal.
A realistic monthly figure is therefore the management fee plus the platform minimum multiplied by the days you run, plus any one-off build work. Ask for all three before approving a launch. If a proposal quotes only a management fee, the number is incomplete.
ChatGPT Ads compared with Google and Meta
This is not a replacement for the channels you already run. It behaves differently, and the sensible framing is what it might add.
| ChatGPT Ads | Google Ads | Meta Ads | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What triggers the ad | Conversational context and stated intent | Keyword and search query | Audience profile, interests and behaviour |
| User mindset | Exploring and comparing options | Actively searching, often ready to act | Browsing; demand usually created |
| Maturity | New; still evolving | Mature, highly documented | Mature, highly documented |
| Competition | Low for now, as fewer advertisers have access | High in most UAE categories | High in most UAE categories |
| Targeting control | Limited at this stage | Extensive | Extensive |
| Benchmarks available | Few | Years of category data | Years of category data |
| Best treated as | A measured test alongside existing channels | A core acquisition channel | A core demand and retargeting channel |
The honest summary: lower competition is the genuine opportunity, and thin benchmarks are the genuine risk. You will be establishing what “good” looks like for your category rather than comparing against an established figure. That argues for a contained test budget and a clear decision point, not a channel switch.
How to plan a campaign that can be judged
A test is only useful if it can produce a verdict. Five things decide that.
Pick one decision the test will answer
“Can we acquire a qualified lead in this category below AED X?” is a question a test can answer. “Should we be on AI platforms?” is not.
Write for the conversation, not the keyword
The person has already described their situation in detail. The offer should speak to that specific position, not to a generic category.
Send traffic to a page built for it
Sending conversational traffic to a generic homepage wastes the placement. A focused landing page with one clear action, visible proof and a short form will usually outperform it comfortably. This is web design and development work, and it is often where the real gain sits.

Set up tracking before you launch, not after
Impressions and clicks are not outcomes. Decide in advance what counts as a qualified lead, make sure that event is recorded, and confirm it fires correctly with a test submission. Launching without this is the most expensive mistake available, because it makes the whole spend unreadable.
Agree the review date and the stopping rule
Decide before launch what result would make you continue, increase or stop, and when you will look. Without that, a campaign drifts on an unclear budget.
Measuring it properly
Judge the channel on business outcomes, not platform metrics. In practice that means tracking the cost per qualified lead rather than cost per click, following leads through to closed business where your sales cycle allows, and recording which page and campaign each enquiry came from so that attribution survives contact with reality.

It is also worth separating this clearly from search engine optimisation. Advertising buys a labelled placement. SEO and content work influence whether your business is understood and surfaced organically. They are different mechanisms, and no amount of ad spend substitutes for the second — nor does website optimisation guarantee inclusion in any assistant’s organic answers.
How Root4tech can help
We work across the whole path rather than the advertisement alone, because the placement is rarely the part that decides the result.
- Eligibility check first. We confirm whether your business can advertise before any paid work begins, and we do not charge a management fee for a campaign that cannot launch.
- Campaign strategy and setup built around your offer, audience and objectives.
- Landing pages designed for the traffic, not repurposed from elsewhere.
- Conversion tracking and analytics configured and verified before launch.
- Plain reporting on what the activity produced, including when the answer is that it did not work.
Advertising spend is paid separately by you, directly to the platform. VAT is added where applicable. Full detail, package inclusions and pricing are on our ChatGPT Ads management service page.

Frequently asked questions
Can a Dubai business advertise on ChatGPT right now?
It depends on where your business is registered, whether you can complete verification and billing, and whether your category is permitted. Availability lists change, so it is confirmed at the point of application rather than assumed. We check this for your specific business before you commit anything.
What is the minimum budget?
The platform sets a minimum daily budget per live campaign, published for each billing currency inside Ads Manager. It applies per campaign rather than per account, and the daily figure is a seven-day average rather than a hard cap. Confirm the current figure for your billing currency before planning.
Will advertising get my business recommended by ChatGPT?
No. Advertisements are labelled and kept separate from the assistant’s organic answers. Paying for a placement does not influence what the assistant recommends.
Is this better than Google Ads?
Not inherently. They serve different moments. For most UAE businesses the sensible position is a contained test alongside established channels, judged on cost per qualified lead, rather than moving budget out of something that already works.
Do I need a new landing page?
Usually yes for lead generation. Conversational traffic arrives with a specific situation in mind, and a focused page answering it will generally outperform a homepage by a wide margin.
How quickly can a campaign launch?
It depends on verification, billing approval, category review, tracking setup and whether a landing page already exists. We give a realistic timeline after the eligibility check rather than before it.
Where to start
If you are weighing this up, the first step is not a budget — it is an eligibility check, because it costs nothing and it determines whether the rest of the conversation is worth having. From there, a contained test with proper tracking and an agreed review date will tell you more than any amount of speculation.
